Message from the Management Team

On behalf of AFDE Partnership’s management team, we want to tell you how proud we are to begin the construction of the Generating Station and Spillways (GSS) Civil Works components of the Site C project for BC Hydro. This is a large project and a unique opportunity to contribute to a clean energy project that will leave a lasting legacy in British Columbia (BC).

We have been entrusted with a responsibility to build this project right, and it is a responsibility that we don’t take lightly. To successfully deliver the GSS Civil Works, we are harnessing the seasoned hydroelectric construction expertise of our four partners, Aecon, Flatiron, Dragados, and EBC.

Safety on the job is our number one priority. At AFDE, everyone—from our frontline crew to our management team and subcontractors—works together to ensure that each worker gets home safely to their families.

Protecting the environment during construction is also important to us, and we are committed to building the GSS Civil Works according to environmental best practices and meeting all regulatory requirements.

As we mobilize to site over the next couple of weeks and begin preparing our work areas for construction, our team continues working to find the best, most innovative ways to complete the job. Our team employs rigorous quality standards to every project component and will monitor construction activities to ensure these standards are met.

It is our privilege to be working in the Peace region. Our goal is to contribute positively to the community in which we live and work and to be good neighbours to everyone in the region. The GSS Civil Works contract will create up to 1,600 job opportunities at the peak of construction, as well as business opportunities for qualified subcontractors and suppliers. We are committed to prioritizing hiring local within BC, as well as providing apprenticeship and sub-contracting opportunities to local and Indigenous communities and their members.

We are fortunate to have been given the opportunity to build this vital hydroelectric project. We are ready and up to the challenge, and look forward to the build.
