What is Site C?

The Site C project consists of a dam and generating station on the Peace River in northeast BC. It will the third dam to be built on the Peace River, and it is owned and operated by BC Hydro.

What is GSS Civil Works?

The Generating Station and Spillways (GSS) Civil Works is one of the largest contracts awarded for the Site C project. GSS Civil Works is the portion of the Site C project that AFDE Partnership is responsible for constructing. The contract includes construction of the generating station (or powerhouse) and penstocks, spillways and power intakes, and minor concrete work around the site.

What is AFDE?

AFDE Partnership is a group of four construction companies building the GSS portions of the Site C dam. The partnership consists of global and local leaders in complex infrastructure construction: Aecon, Flatiron, Dragados, and EBC.

When are you hiring?

AFDE will be mobilizing to site throughout 2018 and expects to begin to hire the majority of required workers in spring of 2019, with labour requirements peaking in 2020 and 2021.

What kinds of jobs will be available?

The construction of Site C dam’s GSS under AFDE will create up to 1,600 jobs at the peak of construction. The large majority of jobs will be labour and trade positions, but a variety of staff position will also be available during the life of the project.
