AFDE Sponsors local Athletes

Earlier this year, AFDE Sponsored the Inconnu Swim club in Fort St. John.  Several of our employees have children who swim with the club, and in late July we received an email from Jason Modde, General Foreman with the Hydro Mechanical Equipment group that gave us an update:

“Thanks to sponsors like AFDE who support the club, swimmers like my sons Ryder and Marco were able to have amazing experiences this 2022/2023 swim season. Marco is 9 years old and swims in the junior level of the program where the focus is for swimmers to have fun in the water while building their skill set.  On average, Marco swims 2,000 metres in any given practice, and he was able to compete in local swim meets as well as Grande Prairie meets.

Ryder, who is 13, swims in the Senior program of the club and was able to achieve a new club record this year in his 800-metre free style swim.  His favourite stroke is breaststroke, where he is currently ranked in the top 20 in Canada in his age group.  He also received gold medals in Winnipeg, Manitoba at their provincial level meet, and in July 2022 was selected to represent Zone 8 at the 2023 BC Summer games.  Ryder’s positive attitude and work ethic both in and out of the pool have earned him multiple club awards, including Most Sportsmanlike for 3 seasons, Most Improved Intermediate, and Swimmer of the Year for the 2021-2022 season.
